All BHMS teachers are thoroughly grounded in Maria Montessori's philosophy and trained in her methods. They have a clear understanding of children's capabilities and challenges and are able to guide them on a learning path that capitalizes on their strengths. Our teachers facilitate your child's learning by creating a nurturing, peaceful environment and by modeling respectful, gentle behavior.

One of Blue Hill Montessori School's strengths is its highly stable and experienced staff. Our low teacher turnover means your child receives consistent care, not only from day to day, but from year to year, as many of our teachers are involved in more than one program. We have 10 full time staff members. Of these 10 individuals, 6 have been with us for over 20 years. This kind of commitment and devotion to early childhood education is unusual today.

All of our teachers hold current Montessori certification from the American Montessori Society or from The Association of Montessori Internationale. They continually participate in professional development courses and classes, and most have Bachelor's or Master's degrees. BHMS also hosts evening workshops for other child care professionals from surrounding communities as well as parent information education evenings throughout the year.

In addition we maintain a professional office staff to run all business and administrative matters for the school. A fully qualified and certified Head of School runs the day-to-day operations of the school.
