How many years have you been teaching?

I have been teaching since the last century. 

 

What is your favorite lesson/thing to teach?

My favorite lessons to teach are lessons that produce wide eyes, big bright smiles, and the response “I DID IT!”

 

What is your educational background? 

- BA in mathematics from Holy Cross College

- State certified K-2 teacher for over 25 years. 

-Masters in Primary Literacy Instruction

-AMS Primary Montessori certificate 

 

What inspired you to become a teacher?

While at Holy Cross, I volunteered with an after school arts and crafts program. When I took over the program during my senior year the principal asked for in-class volunteers. So I reorganized the program and recruited even more volunteers for a Read Aloud program that brought college students into the classrooms of 2 elementary schools in Worcester. 

 

What is an interest or hobby you do outside of school?

Outside of school I love reading, NYT crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and crafting.

 

What is your favorite Montessori quote?

“The greatest gifts we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.”

 

A children's song that you could listen to all day?

“Heel an Toe” is always a favorite but anything by Raffi!
